Church of St. Peter & St. Paul
The church of St. Peter and St. Paul is in the Church of England Langtree Team Ministry, which serves a group of seven South Oxfordshire communities.
This 12th century church is a Grade 1 listed building and a fine example of Romanesque architecture, its atmosphere reflects hundreds of years of prayer. Recent work has uncovered medieval paintings on the chancel wall dating from the 1330s.

Village Hall
The excellent village hall is used for a wide range of regular and occasional activities, for example pre-school, quiz nights, courses, meetings and parties. Facilities include seating, tables, kitchen, stage, cloakrooms and modernised access with ramp. For pictures and full details see the Brochure.

Sports Field & Playground
The Parish Council owns a large sports field in the centre of the village, complete with sports pavilion and both cricket and football pitches.
The cricket pitch is home to the Checkendon Cricket Club. The football pitch hosts the Checkendon Football Club and Checkendon Exiles (reserves) team.

The children's adventure playground is regularly inspected and maintained by the Parish Council. It includes seats and a picnic table.

There is a branch library in the nearby village of Woodcote and the nearest main library is in Henley-on-Thames.

Swimming & Leisure Centres
There are several leisure centres in South Oxfordshire run with grant funding from SODC and local Town Councils. Local facilities include: Henley, Didcot and Wallingford Castle Leisure centres.
South Oxfordshire has indoor heated swimming pools at the Didcot Wave and Henley Leisure Centre. To the south are the Reading Council Rivermead Leisure Complex and Highdown Sports Centre pools.
Open air facilities are available during the summer at the Riverside Park and Pools in Wallingford.
Additionally, local groups use the nearby Oratory School Pool in Woodcote for Childrens Swimming Lessons, plus Adult Lane Swimming & Aquafit.
